Humble Beginnings with a Shared Purpose.
The origin of our name, Leading by Example, was birthed out of the experience co-founder Johnnie Fielding, MSW had while working in group homes. There, he noticed that the children were impacted as they monitored his choices and conduct.
Johnnie met Subramonianpillai Teal, LCSW-C while serving foster children in Baltimore City, and they developed a bond as brothers in spirit. Both had grown up in East Baltimore and graduated from Baltimore City Public Schools – and were first-generation college graduates.
When comparing their professional experiences, they became aware that each of their life’s purpose was to assist communities with healing. When Johnnie wanted to start a company called Leading By Example, they knew it was the perfect name to support their mission.
Thus, Leading By Example was founded in 2009 with the mission to provide mental health treatment and education services to promote healing and restoration of patients in their community.
Meet the Leading By Example Team
Leading By Example has three locations with over 80 staff professionals who provide therapy and medication management, in-home services, targeted case management and homelessness support. These dedicated staff members share a vision prepare adults and children to independently manage their mental, emotional and physical health needs.
